Start Well, Live Well, Age Well with Lifestyle Medicine

Start Well, Live Well, Age Well with Lifestyle Medicine – Blog Post #19

Published on 24 September 2024 by Charity Green, Digital & Community Engagement Coordinator for South Cambs

Last week, our Lifestyle Medicine Lead, Dr. Claire Gillvray, joined colleagues from across the country at the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine‘s annual conference in Gateshead. The conference theme this year was start well, live well, age well and brought together medical doctors, scientists, researchers and wider healthcare professionals to think about the six pillars of Lifestyle Medicine: sleep better, move more, eat well, reduce stress, deepen connection and minimise harm. You can find lots of resources about these topics here: https://haycambspboro.co.uk/lamp/

Claire said “it was great to focus on thinking about health through the lifecycle and gave me lots of ideas of how we can help to build healthy neighbourhoods and link our education, health and social care systems around communities – very much what we are working on locally with our colleagues across the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Integrated Care System. It was also a chance to meet professionals from across the country and talk about how Lifestyle Medicine approaches can help us tackle health inequalities, particularly thinking about the physical health of those of us who experience severe mental health challenges”.

There’s lots of inspiration for ways to incorporate Lifestyle Medicine into your daily life on the How Are You Cambridgeshire & Peterborough family of websites. Take a look at the website for the district in which you live, work or study and have a browse – we feel sure you’ll find something that will help you sleep better, move more, eat well, reduce stress, deepen connection and minimise harm.
